Vision 2010 – ‘A passion for music’
The Liverpool Music Support Service has been passionate about
music in this city for over 40 years and we will continue to support
young people making music well into the next 40 years.
We are proud to be working in close partnership with Notre Dame Catholic
College for the Arts, a unique and powerful affiliation with a school
that is equally committed to ensuring that all young people are supported
to achieve their full potential in music and the arts.
We recognise the challenges young people face in accessing music
and this makes us ever more determined to explore new and innovative
models of delivery to ensure the gap is narrowed between the most
disadvantaged and the majority. We will work closely with schools
across the city in providing high quality music making opportunities
both within the school timetable and as part of the increasing extended
schools and cultural offer.
We will work with schools to explore creative and accessible curriculums.
We will celebrate musical achievement and endeavour to ensure that
playing a musical instrument is recognised as a valuable and worthwhile
aspect of a young person’s identity.
We will seek at every opportunity to ensure the quality of experience
always reflects the very best practice. We recognise that in order
to learn a musical instrument young people must be safe and healthy,
we will seek at every opportunity to promote and engage safer working
practices with all our staff.
Liverpool is a vibrant and creative city with a far reaching musical
reputation, we who work in the Liverpool Music Support Service are
proud to work with a generation of young people who will go on to
make a valuable contribution to this cultural heritage.
Mission Statement
To give every child the chance to make music and to take part in
high quality arts opportunities. To enrich and complement the music
and arts provision within schools and to enhance the raising of
pupils’ standards of attainment in the arts.
The Liverpool Music Support Service aims to meet the needs and aspirations
of both pupils and schools and in doing so contribute to the cultural
life of our community.
